Journalist Willis Raburu to Sign New Contract With Citizen TV

Celebrated journalist Willis Raburu will not be leaving Citizen TV as earlier reported, Kenyans.co.ke can exclusively reveal.

A well-placed source at Royal Media Services (RMS) has confirmed that Raburu, who had resigned from his duties, has made a U-turn on his decision after receiving a better deal.

Raburu had resigned from RMS and was set to join NTV but his former employers have offered him a deal that has made him change his mind.

According to our source, Raburu was to take over The Trend, a show that was previously hosted by Larry Madowo but Royal Media Services gave him an offer that was too good to turn down.

He is now set to resume his normal duties and will continue hosting the 10 over 10 show that airs every Friday evening, as well as the mid-morning radio show on Hot 96 alongside Terry Muikamba.

Details of the deal are yet to be disclosed but it is believed that the money he has been offered by RMS is way higher than what NTV had used to lure him.

News of his exit was greeted with mixed emotion as some of his die-hard fans struggled to come to terms with his decision, while others wished him well in his endeavours.

Journalists in Kenya often shift base after receiving good offers and cases of prominent media personalities moving to rival stations have been the norm.

Raburu has risen the ranks since joining RMS in 2010 where he landed his first job after graduating from Moi University.

The journalist, who had first interned at K24, joined Citizen TV as a reporter before becoming a news anchor and later a show host.
