  • Joseph Nkaissery may be resting in peace but his burial yesterday may have stirred the tense peace between Baringo Senator Gideon Moi and Deputy President William Ruto.

The Senator's aide Hamilton Parseina reportedly accused the DP of deliberately ignoring the senator and failing to give him a chance to deliver a message on behalf of former president Daniel Moi during the burial.

According to The Star, Parseina said that "it had been agreed that Moi was to deliver his father’s message."

He further accused "DP William Ruto of intentionally leaving out the senator."

However, the family spokesman Saitoti Maika clarified that most people who were slated to speak were left out due to time constraints.

Maika was quoted stating that "we took the decision to skip some speakers since we were pressed for time. Some of the dignitaries had made such request."

Kajiado governor who sat next to opposition chief Raila Odinga was also largely ignored during the event.

None of the key leaders who spoke at the event recognised his presence. A few days ago, the governor and Kajiado Central legislator Elijah Memusi had been barred from accessing the home.

It took the intervention of Hellen Nkaisery to allow the two to attend the burial ceremony.

This comes barely a week after the Ruto and Moi appeared to put their rivalry aside, attending a Church service together and thereafter holding a joint rally in Baringo.   ©   2018   All Rights Reserved
