Kasipul MP Oyugi Magwanga Donates 300 Polling Station Agents to NASA

Kasipul Member of Parliament Oyugi Magwanga has donated 300 polling station agents to the National Super Alliance (NASA).

The independent candidate, who is vying for the Homa Bay County Governor seat, hired the 300 agents to guard the presidential votes cast for NASA candidate Raila Odinga in next month's polls.

He added that his donation would contribute to NASA's Adopt-A-Polling Station initiative by increasing the number of agents per station to six, up from the proposed five.

Magwanga further committed to protecting the Opposition leader's presidential votes and rallying voters in the strongholds to turn out in large numbers.

"We all want Raila to be president and that is why we must marshal support in his backyard to ensure we realise that goal," he explained.

Magwanga lost in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) nominations to the incumbent, Cyprian Awiti, and is now putting up a strong challenge to the ODM candidate.

During the ODM party leader's tour of the county on Monday, Raila steered clear of endorsing any of the two candidates.

"I want our people to focus on the bigger picture, which is acquiring leadership of this country. All these people campaigning are my people. The trivial differences witnessed for smaller seats down here will jeopardise our efforts to achieve the objective of leading this country," Raila urged.

Governor Awiti's campaign manager Ken Onditi observed that the former Prime Minister's sentiments eased political tension experienced in the county.
