ODM's Embakasi East Candidate Babu Owino Declares He Will Donate Half His Salary to Bursaries

Embakasi East Parliamentary candidate Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino has declared that he will donate half of his salary to promoting education once elected.

During a Wednesday interview on KTNNews, Babu explained that his action was inspired by his desire to see children surpass his level of education.

“I value education and I’ll donate half of my salary to support bursaries and educate needy children in the constituency,” he stated.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate stated that his goal once elected would be to ensure that bursaries are distributed equally to all who qualify.

He accused his opponent, Jubilee’s Francis Mureithi, of voter bribery after a video emerged showing Mureithi distributing maize flour to residents.

Earlier on, Babu launched his 100 days promise to the voters of Embakasi East where he pledged to deal with issues of water, roads, sanitation, health, youth and women empowerment in the constituency.

Last month, the former Nairobi University students leader was on the spot on allegations that he had poisoned his opponent Joshua Obiende of the Amani National Congress (ANC) which is affiliated with the NASA coalition.

The former University of Nairobi Students leader, however, denied the accusations noting that he did not poison Mr Obiende and instead linked his Jubilee Party rival, Francis Mureithi to the poisoning.
