Twitter handles that have gained a reputation for being pro-Jubilee posted various messages, discrediting the leadership of the National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principal.

The posts elicited angry reactions from a section of online users who dismissed the trending hashtag as a smear campaign.

Homa Bay/ Suna East MP

The topics trended after Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohamed was arrested and detained at the Homa Bay police station over hate speech charges.

According to the charge sheet seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the Suna East MP made sentiments that were intended to "incite feelings of contempt, hatred and discrimination against the people of Nyeri based on their identity".
