President Uhuru Kenyatta Attacks NASA Leader Raila Odinga and the Media over Presidential Debate

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday noted that Opposition Leader Raila Odinga flopped in the Presidential debate that happened on Monday.

Speaking in Othaya, Nyeri County, President Kenyatta stated that he listened to the National Super Alliance (NASA) leader and concluded that he lacked any agenda for the country.

He further noted that the NASA leader was not conversant with where the country was from and where it was headed to.

"After watching and listening to him, I looked at the heavens and thanked God that I did not debate such a person," the President stated.

The Head of State also took a swipe at the media and the debate organisers stating that the event had been organised to "pin him down".

He alleged that the media was backing Mr Odinga's Presidential bid just like they did in the 2013 elections.

"The press think they can intimidate people. In 2013, they did not support my bid. Today, just like in 2013, they have refused to throw their bid behind me," he noted.

Earlier on, President Kenyatta stated that he deliberately failed to attend the Presidential debate since he had nothing to discuss with his opponent, Mr Odinga.

“Do you want me to spend my time responding to Raila or commissioning projects? I decided that he will debate alone because I have nothing to debate with him. I will not waste my time there,” he stated.

He was speaking hours after a section of Kenyans heavily criticised him for missing out on the chance to sell his manifesto and defend his administration.
