Uasin Gishu Gubernatorial Aspirant Buzeki Summoned by IEBC

Uasin Gishu Gubernatorial Aspirant Bundotich Kiprop aka Buzeki has been summoned by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Buzeki, who is vying as an independent candidate, was summoned over the use of President Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto’s images in his posters.

The businessman will appear before the IEBC committee on Thursday for questioning.

Buzeki, who is a close ally to DP Ruto, was seeking to clinch the Jubilee Party ticket during the nominations in April.

He, however, lost to incumbent Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago who got 126,681 votes against Buzeki’s 82,869.

Buzeki later appeared before the Jubilee Party Elections Board complaining of massive irregularities in the voting process and requested for a repeat of the nominations.

Later on, he claimed the party's tribunal had failed to act on the appeal prompting him to defect from the party.

Meanwhile, Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma was also summoned by the electoral commission over the use of NASA flag bearer Raila Odinga's images in his campaign material.

Ranguma quit the Orange Democratic Movement to run as an independent candidate after he lost the nominations to Senator Anyang' Nyong'o.

Ruaraka MP Moses Kajwang was ordered to appear over violence.
