Kenyans React to Mutahi Ngunyi's Tweet on Attack on DP William Ruto's Home

Renown political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has once again sparked an online buzz with his comment regarding the attack on Deputy  President William Ruto's Sugoi home.

The analyst took to Twitter to question the motive of the attack which happened a few minutes after Ruto left the area for a rally in Kitale.

Though the motive is still unknown, Ngunyi seemed to connect the incident to the upcoming August General Election.

"Like in Nkaissery ASSASSINATION, we must ask: WHO BENEFITS from Ruto attack? If a RUNNING MATE dies, Election is POSTPONED till October 4," he posted.

The comment immediately elicited varied reactions from a section of netizens who held a similar opinion while others blasted him for the same.

I thought this rule applies to any of the running mates. Why would anyone try to pick the most protected if this is the case?

Ruto is publicly attending rallies away from home. Wife and children in nairobi, so who benefits from attacking an empty home for PR?

— Patrick Taifa (@TaifaPatrick) July 29, 2017

The home of a DP cannot be attacked by thugs easily, it's inside job, trying to hide something deeper than we know. He had just left, why?

Was ruto at his home during the attack? So how do u attack someone who is throwing insults in rallies?

— innocent (@billgrahams1) July 29, 2017

A gimmick of stage management to divert the public's attention from petinent Election related issues or a real attack? Just asking.

Who benefits from elections being postponed? Kenyans were ready to send the failed regime long ago. Some would already have cast their votes

Nobody benefits when a person dies.We ought to evaluate our speech. If DP home is not safe, whose is safe?

— Professor Kioko (@ProfessorKioko) July 29, 2017

If elections are postponed, how's that a benefit to whoever wants them postponed as you insinuate...? Or What are you insinuating?

Ruto's home was earlier in the day attacked by assailants who injured a GSU officer manning the gate before snatching his and storming the compound.

Officers from the elite Recce Squad unit were disptached to neutralise the attackers with the operation being led by Rift Valley Regional Coordinator Wanyama Musiambo.
