Jubilee's Nairobi Woman Representative Rachel Shebesh Concedes Defeat

Jubilee Party's Nairobi Woman Representative candidate Rachel Shebesh has conceded defeat to ODM's Esther Passaris.

In her address, the incumbent also asked National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka to accept defeat by Jubilee's Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto.

"I am making this announcement now because for the last two weeks my campaigns have been about peace.

"I am therefore calling, humbly, on the NASA leadership of Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka to know that the win for President Uhuru Kenyatta was not disputed when people were voting," she stated.

She went on to laud the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for having conducted the most peaceful election yet, asking the Opposition leaders to be responsible and accept defeat.

"It is imperative for us as leaders to know that there will always be a winner and a loser. If I have accepted my loss, the rest should also accept theirs so that we don't take this country on a long political journey when all we want to do is move on," Shebesh implored.

Speaking to the press on Wednesday, the incumbent congratulated Ms Passaris on her victory and wished her a successful term in office.

"I want to start by congratulating my competitor Esther Passaris for winning the seat for Woman Rep for Nairobi.

"I also want to say that we did our campaigns with Passaris with a lot of respect for one another and with decorum and it is for that reason that it makes my heart much lighter to speak to her as I am now," Shebesh begun.

The outgoing Woman Representative expressed confidence that Passaris was aware of the projects she had initiated and would complete some of them during her tenure.
