Raila Odinga Announces He'll Never Vie for Presidency Again

National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga has announced he will never contest for the Presidency again, following his defeat by President Uhuru Kenyatta in the just concluded General Election.

Speaking during an interview at his Karen home, Odinga disclosed that his firm stand on political matters was all in the country's interest.

“It is not about me. It’s not about Raila Odinga. I’m not going to be a candidate again,” he said in an interview with the Financial Times.

The Opposition chief further denied he was trying to get to power through unconstitutional means saying, “We just want Kenyans to know what happened, what the whole world is not understanding is happening.”

"There is no point going to elections in the future, queuing for hours to vote or running around campaigning. At the end of the day, it's the computer in the national tallying making the decision," he noted.

Raila Odinga has unsuccessfully vied for the presidency in four elections; in 1997, 2007, 2013 and 2017.

Meanwhile, the former Prime Minister has asked the United Nations (UN) to analyse the presidential results of the just-concluded 2017 General Election.

Odinga, who is yet to concede defeat, maintains that the Opposition has compelling evidence indicating that the recent presidential election was a sham.

"We will give compelling evidence. We will show the kind of charade the whole world has been treated to," Raila said in the interview.
