Kitui Senator David Musila Leads Ukambani Leaders in Ditching the Opposition

Ukambani leaders on Monday declared that they will leave the Opposition to join the government side.

Led by outgoing Kitui Senator David Musila, the leaders announced that they did not wish to be locked out of government for the next term.

"We don't think as Ukambani leaders it will be good to stay in the opposition for the next five years. It will not be in our best interest to stay in opposition as Ukambani," Mr Musila told journalists.

He further conveyed that the community was fed up with being held hostage to the political decisions of National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka

"Two million Ukambani voters will not be held ransom by one man called Kalonzo Musyoka," the former Wiper party Chairman declared.

The leaders condemned acts that attempt to destabilise the country, calling on the law enforcement officers not to use excessive force in dealing with protesters.

They further urged the NASA leadership to consider pursuing constitutional channels in addressing their dissatisfaction with the outcome of the 2017 elections.

"The aggrieved party should follow the laid down procedure, in accordance with our Constitution and seek legal redress," their statement read in part.

Mr Musila lost in his bid for Kitui governorship to NARC's Charity Ngilu who had 167,765 compared to his 113,300.

Musila was accompanied by Marcus Muluvi (lost in the Kitui East parliamentary seat), Jubilee's Nimrod Mbai, Charles Nyamai (lost the Kitui Rural MP seat), Joe Mutambo (lost the Mwingi Central seat), John Munuve Mati (lost Mwingi North MP election), Jubilee's Benson Itwiku Mbai, Benard Kitungi and former Provincial Commission Wilfred Ndolo.
