Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku Announces New Contracts for County Workers

Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku has announced that senior county officials have only three months until their positions are declared vacant.

Governor Ole Lenku clarified that the top officials will have their contracts extended for the short period to allow a smooth transition.

"I have asked those officers to continue serving the public. We must continue serving the public for better service delivery," Ole Lenku stated.

The Governor further conveyed that at the end of the three months, the positions will be declared vacant and re-advertised.

Speaking on Friday, Ole Lenku told the workers that they would have a chance to apply for the jobs once they are declared vacant.

"We are one county and one people. We can't bring the operations to a halt; we are going to advertise those positions and this will be done in line with the law.

"We are going to work within the laws, policies and regulations as we prepare the budget and get moving with the job of serving the great people of Kajiado. The County Governments Act is very key," the former Interior Cabinet Secretary assured.

His announcement comes in the wake of rampant suspensions meted to government workers by his counterparts in other counties.
