Kisauni DCI Boss Edward Itaye Sent Home

Newly deployed Kisauni Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Edward Itaye has been sent on compulsory leave over investigations into the killing of a Swiss couple.

Mr Itaye who was replaced by his Deputy Simon Ndegwa received an interdiction letter early this week.

Reports indicate that Itaye was sent home over failure to conduct proper investigations on the murder case after arresting the prime suspect.

The suspect George Mwaki aka Jeff was found with Sh39,000 and several ATM cards belonging to the couple, but Itaye failed to add these the inventory, the Star reports.

“This was not a local probe where one could be induced to use illegal tactics. We have a serious issue in Kisauni," sources within the police service revealed.

The bodies of Werner Borner Paul, 70, and Marriane Hornel were found dumped beside a road in Kiembeni, Mombasa County last week.

Kisauni OCPD Christopher Rotich divulged that the elderly couple were Swiss nationals pensioners who had been in the country for 10 years.

Rotich confirmed that Mwaki was arrested at the house the foreigners were residing in Nyali.

He added that police were hunting down three more suspects including a caretaker, a watchman and a neighbour.
