Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru Sends Home County Executives and Chief Officers

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has caused panic in the county after she sent home all County Executive Committee members (CEC) and nine Chief Officers as she reorganisesd her administration.

The Governor also advertised positions in the County Public Service Board urging qualified individuals to apply.

On Thursday, Waiguru made headlines after she wrote to the Auditor General, Edward Ouko, asking for an "urgent special financial audit" in Kirinyaga after reports that Sh1.2 Billion could not be accounted for.

Governor Waiguru claimed that more than Sh1.2 Billion had either been siphoned a few days after Jubilee Party nominations or paid out to fictitious companies associated with senior administrators.

The county boss stated that the audit would give her office an accurate and critical perspective on the county's financial status.

"I would like your office to carry out an urgent and special audit on the financial status of the county of Kirinyaga. Pay attention to finances and human resources commitment," Waiguru's letter read in part.

She further noted that Ouko should ensure the audit is finalised in 21 days to enable her office make decisions in time.

Other than the audit, she also called for an assessment of the County Human Resource capacity adding that she was planning a staff rationalisation exercise.

"This will help me understand the current position in respect of the optimal staffing level in the county and guide the intended rationalisation exercise," she stated.

Governor Waiguru has now joined the long list of newly-elected County bosses that have sent home senior workers.

Governors who have cracked the whip include Kiraitu Murungi of Meru County, Alfred Mutua (Machakos), Anyang' Nyong'o (Kisumu) and many others.
