Addressing a press conference on Friday together with Deputy President William Ruto, Kenyatta expressed his disappointment on the ruling by the six-judge bench.

“I disagree but I respect the ruling of the Supreme Court,” he stated.

President Kenyatta assured that he was ready for the repeat election that is expected to be held in 60 days.

“We are ready to go back to the people with the same agenda we delivered to the people,” he added.

The President thanked Kenyans who came out in large numbers to vote for him particularly giving the Jubilee party a majority of the elective seats.

He further urged Kenyans to uphold peace and stay in union asking the opposition not to engage in tribal politics.

Earlier on, IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati cleared himself of any blame and welcomed the ruling by the Court stating that the Commission would make internal changes to its personnel.
