Deputy President William Ruto has dismissed calls from the National Super Alliance (NASA) for new IEBC Commissioners as the country awaits the presidential election.
Addressing Jubilee MCAs and Governors at State House, he affirmed that they would not allow the reconstitution of the electoral body adding that the current body would oversee the repeat presidential election.
Mr Ruto stated that President Uhuru Kenyatta won the election fairly and Jubilee won majority seats in the Governor, Senate, MP, Woman Representative and MCA positions.
Ruto further accused the NASA of trying to force a coalition government adding that the opposition was not ready for elections.
"We will not succumb to intimidation from the courts. We won this election, Maraga and his people should know that. We respect the law but we are not fools," the DP stated.
His sentiments were echoed by President Kenyatta who said there was no time to reconstitute the electoral body.
He asked Chief Justice David Maraga not to interfere with the duties of the electoral body.
Earlier on, DP Ruto had urged the IEBC to set the date for the presidential poll affirming the preparedness of the Jubilee Party.
