2 Police Officers Killed in Surprise Attack by 4 Gangsters in Church

Two officers have been killed when they were ambushed by four masked men in Kwale County.

The two police officers were attacked on Sunday morning as they manning  ACK Church in Ukunda area.

Police report that the assailants who were on a motorbike carried away the officers' guns.

Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya went to the church where he revealed that one police officer died on the scene while the second succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.

"The attack was not religion-motivated. The four gangsters were after weapons as they did not harm any of the church goers,"

He added that some church members had various injuries after they tried to flee over the fence. 

The Governor urged locals to cooperate with the police and provide any information that could lead to their capture and promised that security would be enhanced in the county.

County commissioner, Kutswa Olaka assured that the police has launched a manhunt on the assailants.

"We are pursuing the gangsters, and we shall not rest until we have captured them and the guns are recovered," he stated.
