Jubilee Leaders Announce What Will Happen if Raila Odinga Boycotts October 17 Election

Jubilee leaders have dared National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga to boycott the October 17 elections as he earlier threatened.

Led by Senate Majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen, they announced that should Odinga boycott the polls, President Uhuru Kenyatta will just be sworn in as the next Head of State.

Speaking at Parliament buildings, Murkomen stated that it was not a legal requirement for NASA to participate in the elections.

The Elgeyo Marakwet Senator urged Odinga to respect independent institutions adding that the IEBC should not be directed on how to conduct its duties.

“IEBC is an independent commission and should not be directed on how to do its work. Let them boycott and Uhuru Kenyatta will be sworn in as the next President. It will be an easy job for us," he affirmed.

Murkomen was speaking in the company of other Jubilee leaders including Murang'a Woman Representative Sabina Chege.

They blasted the former Prime Minister for issuing conditions before participating in the polls noting that those were signs of a losing aspirant.

On her part, Ms Chege took issue with Odinga's proposal that the national examinations be postponed highlighting that it would disrupt students preparations.

“Raila should tell us if he sat for an exam and if he understands the pressure that comes with a change of schedule for even one hour," noted the Woman Rep.

They maintained that Jubilee was ready for the election adding that they would ensure President Kenyatta reclaims his win.

The Opposition outfit on Tuesday morning issued a list of issues the IEBC should address before Odinga participates in the upcoming polls.

NASA leaders also contested the October 17 date claiming that the day was proposed to the Electoral Commission by Jubilee, through Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.
