IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba Left out of New IEBC Team

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) CEO Ezra Chiloba will not play a significant role in the next presidential election slated for October 17.

This is after IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati on Tuesday broke down some of the roles that were played by Chiloba's office and assigned those duties to a new team.

During the August election, Chiloba was seen as the chairman's right-hand man, even earning the title 'Chilobae' from ladies who were blown away by his looks and how he articulated words.

Members of the opposition had called for the resignation of both Chebukati, Chiloba and the electoral body commissioners accusing them of messing up the elections.

The leaders claimed that the electoral body was not fit to conduct elections and had even demanded changes to be made before they agree to participate in the polls.

Those that Chebukati picked yesterday include Project Coordinator Marjan Hussein Marjan, who is the current deputy CEO.

Marjan will take over most of Chiloba’s roles and so will Dr Sidney Namulungu, who will now play the role of Betty Nyabuto-Sungura.

The new head of Logistics is Nancy Kariuki, who will take up the role formerly played by Director of Elections Immaculate Kassait.

The new head of training has been named as Bernard Misati Moseti.

Both President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga have expressed confidence in emerging victorious in the elections and have once again called out their supporters to come out in large numbers.
