NASA Leader Raila Odinga Makes New Announcement After Chebukati's Letter

National Super Alliance (NASA) Leader Raila Odinga on Thursday issued a new statement after a memo from IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati to CEO Ezra Chiloba revealed key mistakes that were committed by the Secretariat during the elections.

Addressing the media at NASA's Okoa Kenya offices, Mr Odinga announced that he will not participate in the October presidential elections unless officials who bungled last month's poll are fired.

He took a swipe at President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy, William Ruto, over their utterances that they won the last elections, stating that the new revelations reveal the exact opposite.

Mr Odinga noted that the allegations raised by the Opposition at the Supreme Court had been substantiated courtesy of the memo, adding that the letter highlighted that some individuals manipulated the election results in favour of Jubilee.

"This memo from Chebukati to Chiloba now vindicates us. It is part of the evidence we took to the Supreme Court.

"When I see President Kenyatta running around claiming he won, I pity him. He didn't know what was going on. He was like a visitor in Jerusalem," Odinga stated.

The former prime minister further noted that the bare minimum they could take before participating in the repeat polls was a level playing field and a neutral referee.

"They did not win. We will not participate in any election as long as the playing field is full of thorns and stones and the referee is wearing the jersey of our competitor.

"No, we will not. Petitions being filed in court show this was not an election but pure theft of the will of the people.

"They subverted the will of the people and are now running around telling us how they won. Kenyans braved the cold weather, the scotching sun, only for some people to sit in a room and alter the results. This is criminal. Shame on you," he stated.

On Thursday,  Chebukati wrote to Chiloba demanding answers for the mistakes that occurred during the August 8 elections.

In an internal memo, the chairman asked Chiloba to respond to twelve issues about the presidential election that was nullified by the Supreme Court.
