Siaya Senator James Orengo Orders Police to Investigate President Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto

Siaya Senator has ordered the police to investigate President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto to establish their roles in the August 8 elections which he says were marred by irregularities.

Orengo, on Friday, asked the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Keriako Tobiko to launch a probe following the Supreme Court ruling which affirmed malpractices in the polls.

“Mr Tobiko should order police to record statements from President Kenyatta and his Deputy now that we have confirmed that the elections were rigged,” he said.

The Siaya Senator, who was NASA's lead lawyer in the presidential petition, noted that the leaked memo IEBC Chairman Chebukati wrote to CEO Chiloba revealed failings in the electoral body which declared Kenyatta the President-elect.

He, therefore, claimed that the two top Jubilee leaders were culprits of the previous general election malpractices and must be investigated.

Speaking at Karachuonyo in Homabay County during the burial of a former MP's wife, the NASA politician further pointed out that President Kenyatta and Mr Ruto should step aside to facilitate the police probe.

"It is now clear that the election was won by Raila Odinga. President Kenyatta stole our victory then arranged with external observers such as John Kerry and Thabo Mbeki to sanitize his fraud," he stated.

The Senator further demanded that the international observers who were working in favour of Mr Kenyatta during the election issue an apology to Kenyans.

Homabay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga, who was also present in the function, noted that the Opposition should boycott the upcoming elections if  Chiloba does not resign.
