Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho has transferred 10 County Commissioners ahead of the repeat presidential election.
Some of the counties set to receive new commissioners include Kisumu, Kilifi, Kisii, Makueni, Kwale, Mandera and Nyeri counties.
Commissioners specifically direct and coordinate all national government functions and programs in the county.
Last week, police spokesman Charles Owino and seven other senior officers were moved to new ranks following promotions effected in the Kenya National Police Service. They were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General.
The others who have been promoted are Peter Ndung’u who is head of Nairobi area traffic operations, Joshua Kiplimo Too, Jostine Barmao, Nelson Njiru, Julia Muthama and Gerald Mbaabu.
The Assistant Inspector General rank is only lower than Senior Assistant Inspector General, Deputy Inspector General and Inspector General, a position currently held by Joseph Boinnet.
In March, the Ministry of Interior transferred 11 County Commissioners in a bid to ensure maximum security in August 8 elections.
County Commissioners are given decisive powers to ensure security prevails within their area of jurisdiction.
This was one of the measures initiated in a bid to restructure the provincial administration to align it with the 2010 Constitution of Kenya.
