NASA's Raila Odinga Reveals What Happened Between His Lawyers and Supreme Court Judges

National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga has finally spoken about allegations that his lawyers colluded with some Supreme Court judges.

Speaking during an interview on NTV, Odinga was put on the spot to clarify the claims made against his team of lawyers and he was quick to rubbish them as 'allegations without foundation.'

"Those are made up allegations without any foundation. It is surprising that this comes several weeks after their judgements," he remarked.

Odinga reiterated that there is no way his lawyers met Supreme Court judges Isaac Lenaola and Deputy CJ Philomena Mwilu, adding that the Jubilee regime was trying to intimidate the judiciary.

The NASA leader revealed that the petition filed against Chief Justice David Maraga by Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu was made on behalf of President Uhuru Kenyatta as he claimed that the two (Ngunjiri and Kenyatta) boarded the same plane to Nyeri on that day.

"These allegations (that NASA lawyers met Supreme Court judges), are made on behalf of Kenyatta.

"He should respect the independence of the judiciary," stated Odinga.

On Tuesday, damning revelations emerged alleging that two of the four Supreme Court Judges who nullified President Kenyatta's win were in secret communication with NASA lawyers during the Presidential election petition hearing.

Derrick Malika Ngumu, who is the Executive Director of Angaza Empowerment Network, filed two petitions claiming Ms Mwilu and Justice Lenaola were in contact with lawyers representing the Odinga during the hearing of the case.

The petitions filed with the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) accused the two Justices of gross misconduct and also having met lawyers representing Raila and the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) outside the courtroom during the hearing of the petition.

In the petition, the Deputy Chief Justice is accused of having had telephone conversations and meetings with Raila's lead counsel James Orengo, Senators Amos Wako and Moses Wetangula who were all directly linked to the case.

Orengo has, however, denied having had any communication with the Judges.

"I have never approached any of the judicial officers whether in the chambers or anywhere else while discharging my duties as a lawyer of repute,” said Mr Orengo.
