Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru Lands New Position in President Uhuru Kenyatta's Team

Kirinyaga County Governor Anne Waiguru has been appointed to head President Uhuru Kenyatta's campaign in the County.

Addressing the media in Kerugoya on Monday, Jubilee leaders from the County stated that they had developed a plan targeting a 100 percent voter turnout in the repeat election.

The team stated that going forward, their main objective would be to ensure that the over 45,000 voters who did not turn out on August 8th cast their ballots in the repeat election.

Governor Waiguru, who was chosen to lead the team, explained that they will conduct a door-to-door campaign to increase a huge voter turnout.

"We will move in every ward and ensure residents turn out in their numbers to vote for President Uhuru Kenyatta," she stated.

Former Kirinyaga Governor Joseph Ndathi claimed that the Opposition was not ready for the election and expressed confidence that President Kenyatta will win in the repeat poll with an even bigger margin.

"They are not ready. That is the reason they are making unnecessary demands to the electoral agency," Ndathi noted.

Kirinyaga Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici on her part attacked the Opposition over plans to hold demonstrations to eject 12 IEBC officials stating that instead of protesting, their opponents should be seeking votes in the grassroots.

The Jubilee Party has in the past few weeks launched teams to head grassroots campaigns in different regions.

They include the Coast team headed by Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala, the Ukambani team under the watch of Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and the Mbele iko Sawa team led by Gatundu South Legislator Moses Kuria and ex-Budalangi Lawmaker Ababu Namwamba.
