Raila Forced to Act Quickly After Family is Endangered

National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga was on Wednesday forced to act quickly after his family was put in harm's way.

Mr Odinga was compelled to hire private security guards to watch his Opoda Farm in Bondo, Siaya County after the government withdrew four police officers deployed to secure the home.

According to Raila's caretaker, the four security officers were abruptly recalled on Tuesday evening leaving the home unprotected.

"All I can say is that the officers left at around 3pm after a police vehicle came and asked all the officers to pack and leave. They left us dumbfounded," Mr Boniface Oginga disclosed.

The national police services pulled out the security guards just two days after the former Prime Minister's personal bodyguards were recalled.

He along with his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka were stripped of the security detail after organising anti-IEBC protests.

Siaya county commissioner Joseph Onunga confirmed the incident and declined to divulge more details on the matter saying that it was beyond her jurisdiction.

"All I know is that they have been withdrawn, the duty of assigning guards to VIPs directly discharged by the Inspector General (Joseph Boinnet)," the officer defended.

Mr Odinga has condemned the move accusing the Jubilee administration of attempting to muffle the Opposition.

"It is sad that nobody had informed me of the withdrawal, I just woke up and found the officers recalled, I am not moved by the decision but I want to assure the government that my security is the people of Kenya," the NASA leader stated.
