Powerful Kajiado Politician Joins Jubilee

A powerful politician who previously supported the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has decamped to Jubilee.

Elijah Keen Naini, a popular politician who reportedly sponsored some leaders in Kajiado county, on Friday stated that he would work with the Jubilee government.

Mr Naini, who is the son of former Minister the late John Keen, was a critic of Kajiado County governor Joseph Ole Lenku but has now promised to team up with the incumbent.

The politician was a strong supporter and financier of former governor David Nkedianye but now joins the list of former bigwigs in the Orange Democratic Movement who have defected to Jubilee.

"Yes, it is true I have crossed over to my Ilaitayuk clan brother. It is no longer rumours. We have swept our differences under the carpet," he affirmed.

Naini assured he would attend rallies Kajiado South constituency for campaigns in support of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"I have a strong history with Lenku and I was really impressed by his stand in support of the pastoralist Maasai," he stated.

He noted it has dawned to him that over the years, no Kajiado leader had ever spoken explicitly about the plight of the local community in the light of human/wildlife conflict.

"He has come out to be a man we the Maasai of Kajiado need more than the rest who have been elected. This follows his position on the way the Kenya Wildlife Service is mistreating our pastoralists," said Naini.

The politician divulged he was not driven by financial greed as some people may wish to claim, but he decided to support Lenku because the governor remains a uniting factor in the region.

The human rights activist said he agreed with Lenku that even as they work together, he would not cow from pointing out ills in the county government.
