Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet Angers Kenyans After NTV Interview

Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet, has received backlash from Kenyans for denying police brutality on students from the University of Nairobi.

Speaking during an interview on NTV, Boinnet defended his officers even after viewing video clips of police whipping students saying they were invited by the University's administration.

This seemingly angered the netizens who took to Twitter the criticize the IG for the denial yet there were clips clearly supporting the allegations.

Kenyans took to social media to demand that the Inspector General be accountable for his officers' behaviour during the raid in the university.

It's sad that in such a country, a whole IG can't distinguish btn what's right n wrong. Until "investigations" are done#BoinnetInterview

Many social media users tweeting on the issue noted that Boinnet's answers were insufficient urging him to bring the officers involved to book.

Boinnet also denied police brutality in an operation to quell post-election demonstrations where 6-month-old, Samantha Pendo and Stefanie Moraa were killed further sparking the reactions.

Kenyans called for justice for the victims, noting that the police actions were against the law.

The last time police were handling 'thugs' they killed a 6 month old & an 8 yr old.#BoinnetInterview

Many were further startled by how he denied the well-illustrated videos and testimonials of various people who claimed they were brutalised by the police.

IG Boinnet doesn't have facts on any Brutality so far, then why is he the IG.#BoinnetInterview
