Jubilee Legislator Sabina Chege Loses Mother in Grisly Road Accident

Murang'a County Woman Representative Sabina Chege's mother on Thursday night died after being involved in a tragic road accident.

Susan Wairimu, 68, died following a head-on collision between two private cars on Kangari-Kandara road.

She succumbed to her injuries shortly after being rushed to Githumu Mission Hospital.

The Legislator's father Chege Mutema who was also involved in the accident suffered serious injuries and was admitted at the Aga Khan hospital.

The driver of the second vehicle and three passengers sustained serious injuries and are in stable condition at Githumu hospital.

According to Murang'a County Commander Naomi Ichami, Ms Wairimu was with her husband Chege Mutema 75, in a Nissan Station wagon that collided head-on with a Toyota Noah that was carrying Unaitus Sacco staff.

"Mr Mutema and his wife were heading to Githumu while the vehicle carrying Unaitus Sacco staff was going in the opposite direction when they collided head on at a sharp bend," said Ms Ichami adding that two Unaitus Sacco staff were treated and discharged.     

Wairimu's body is scheduled to be moved to Lee Funeral Home.

Sabina Chege was first elected to the National assembly in 2013 to represent the interest of Murang'a County Women.

In the August 2017, election, she was re-elected in the same capacity with a landslide victory.
