Murang'a Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Julius Rutere has been hospitalised after he was found drugged in a hotel room in Karatina, Nyeri County.
Police documents indicated that the officer was found lying naked and unconscious on the bed adding that he was not carrying his gun.
Central Region Police Boss Gideon Amala said Rutere was robbed of his money and mobile phone, which were later tracked to two women in Karatina town.
Amala said three people, including the two women, were arrested in connection with the incident and were being questioned at Karatina Police Station.
“The officer was drugged at an entertainment joint in Karatina. But he is now in stable condition and recovering,” Amala stated.
“The police tracked the mobile phone to the two women, who upon questioning led the police to the man,” he added.
Amala said the officer was treated at Karatina Sub-County Hospital before being transferred to Nairobi Hospital.
The police also impounded a vehicle belonging to the suspects and towed it to Karatina Police Station.

On Friday a Jubilee politician was admitted to the hospital following allegations that he was poisoned by unknown individuals after taking a meal in a hotel in Kitale county.
Kinyoro Ward MCA Cheshari Lawrence Mokusu, suspected his food was poisoned when he took his lunch at 2.30 pm at the Makuti hotel in the region after feeling abdominal pains and headache.
Four individuals have so far been held on suspicions that they were involved in the act.
