President Uhuru Kenyatta Receives Major Endorsement After Margaret Kenyatta's Appeal

President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election bid on Saturday received a major endorsement after women, drawn from Bomet, Kericho, Elgeyo Marakwet, Kajiado, Baringo, West Pokot, Narok, Uasin Gishu, Turkana, and Nakuru promised to support him.

The move came after First Lady Margaret Kenyatta had called on Women to support her husband's re-election bid in order to help her complete her vision for the Country.

Speaking in Narok County, the women vowed to support President Kenyatta’s bid as a way of repaying the First Lady for her sacrifices for women and children.

“We are making a commitment today that, come the date of the repeat election, we will give another chance to the President and his Deputy,” Narok Woman Rep Soipan Kudate stated.

Maendeleo Ya Wanawake Organization National Chairperson Rahab Mwikali stated that they will conduct door-to-door campaigns for President Kenyatta.

The First Lady thanked the women for their support and urged Kenyans to help her accomplish her dream of securing maternal health in the country by re-electing the Jubilee Government.

She praised women for supporting her initiatives to improve Kenyans’ lives adding that women and children occupy a special place in her heart and it will be her joy to see more benefit from different projects under her office.

“We owe a debt of gratitude to all the loyal supporters who selflessly contributed their time and effort during what has now become a very long election season. We are moved by your determination and energy.

"I can confirm the President is committed to transforming the lives of Kenyans, you vote for him and we will continue with what we have started together,” she said.

She asked the women to ensure they turn up in even larger numbers during the October 26 elections and re-confirm their choice of President Kenyatta.
