NASA Supporters Boycott Anti-IEBC Demos After New Discovery

Kakamega County National Super Alliance (NASA) anti-IEBC protests failed to take off on Monday after a section of the coalition supporters expressed dissatisfaction with the commitment of their elected leaders.

The supporters who failed to take to the streets explained that they were no pleased with their elected leaders who never showed up for the protests but often took credit.

Some of the coalition's supporters stated that they wanted to see if Governor Wycliffe Oparanya could successfully organise the protests and lead from the front.

"We have since confirmed he cannot. We organised last Monday's and Friday's protests and he took the credit," one of the supporters stated.

Kakamega county ANC youth leader Jeff Mwenje, however, explained that the NASA supporters did not go to the streets because elected leaders did not pay them to protest.

Other reports indicate that the residents could have boycotted the demos since they were left hungry in the previous protests by leaders.

Governor Oparanya, Deputy Governor Philip Kutima and eight Members of Parliament allied to the Opposition from the County skipped the Monday demos.

Explaining why he missed the protests, Governor Oparanya stated that as a commander, he did not need to be on the streets.

Only Kakamega Woman Representative Elsie Muhanda and some Ward Reps participated.

Lugari MP Ayub Savula explained that he missed the demos as he was attending to his sick father.

Lurambi MP Titus Khamalaon his part stated that he was still waiting for his party's official position on the protests.

Meanwhile, in other parts of the country, the protests took part as scheduled.
