A female Member of County MCA) was on Tuesday kicked out of the Assembly session for failing to dress appropriately.
Nyeri Nominated MCA Beth Nyawira was forced out of the assembly when the County Speaker John Kachugia ruled that she had breached the dress code.
This move comes two weeks after the county speaker urged the county MCAs to dress decently to avoid tarnishing the assembly status.
“This assembly is a House of honor, and therefore, all members must carry themselves in an honorable manner,” he stated.

Mr Kachugia made this directive following Karatina MCA Watson Mburungo's concerns that female MCAs were wearing miniskirts during house sittings.
This dressing, he stated, was disrupting male MCAs who could not concentrate when performing house business.
He clarified that the new directive was not a strict regulation but urged the female members of the assembly to adhere to the dressing rules.
He cited a past decision by former National Assembly Francis Ole Kaparo on the mode of dressing under the rule 5 of the speaker's rule which indicated that: "Members are required not to enter the chamber when inappropriately dressed."

Mr Kachugia stated that the County Assembly is a replica of the National Assembly.
In West Pokot County, Governor John Lonyangapuo also urged women staff in the county to dress decently and avoid wearing miniskirts and trousers while on duty.
