Uhuru Declares The Only Issue He Will Discuss With Raila

President Uhuru Kenyatta has revealed he can only dialogue with National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga about how to maintain peace ahead of the fresh elections slated for October 26.

Speaking during a joint interview with Chamgei FM and Kass FM on Thursday, President Kenyatta stated that he would not hold talks with the Opposition leader on matters regarding the deferral of the set election date.

"The only thing I can dialogue with Raila about is conducting peaceful polls and keeping our country together ahead of the elections," he declared.

He further stated that they are in negotiations with NASA leaders willing to work with Jubilee after the October election.

On Wednesday, Kenyatta ruled out holding talks with the NASA flag bearer over electoral reforms despite Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati calling for dialogue between them.

Speaking during a Jubilee Party rally in Kabarnet, Kenyatta reiterated that he was ready for the election and would not hold talks with anyone.

“We are ready for the election set for October 26 and I will not hold talks with anyone. The only talks I will hold are with the people of Kenya, going to the voters to ask for votes.

"The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has been supported by taxpayers with Sh12 Billion and their job is to organize elections and not to hold dialogue with anyone,” remarked Kenyatta.

His sentiments came just a few days after Odinga stated that he was ready to sit down for constructive talks on how the election should be conducted.
