President Uhuru Meets With IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati

President Uhuru Kenyatta has met with Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati.

The two met at Harambee House in Nairobi on Monday afternoon where they discussed matter pertaining the Thursday poll.

“We made clear that we have no demands or conditions on this subject. We have made funds available for the IEBC to do its job. Now they really should deliver,” the President stated.

Uhuru added that he only wanted the election to be held on October 26 as directed by the Supreme Court.

“We only insist that elections be held on October 26, that’s the timeline set by the IEBC in terms of conditions set in the annulment of the August 8 elections,” the President maintained.

Also in attendance was Deputy President William Ruto.

The Jubilee duo is scheduled to hold a series of rallies in the Capital City as they prepare for the fresh election.

On Thursday, Mr Chebukati met with National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga after which he (Raila) accused the Jubilee Party of  frustrating efforts to hold constructive talks regarding the election

There is uncertainty over the Thursday polls after the opposition leader reiterated his stance that no election would take place.

Speaking during a rally at Matisi Centre in Kitale on Sunday, the Opposition leader called on his supporters to participate in demonstrations two days before the set poll date.

"There will be countrywide demonstrations on Tuesday and Wednesday. Then on Thursday No Elections," he proclaimed.
