5 Memorable Moments Kenyans Created in October [PHOTOS]

Kenyans are always known to be a respected nation especially when it comes to sports and talents.

In October, different teams and individuals represented the country in different sporting activities in the World and made moments that every Kenyan will always remember.

Here are five memorable sporting moments in October:

1. Vivian Cheruiyot Winning the Frankfurt Marathon

On Sunday October 29th 2017, Vivian Cheruiyot stepped on the streets of Frankfurt and won the ladies Marathon in a time of 2 hours 23 minutes and 35 seconds.

It was her first win in the full marathon after retiring from field athletics earlier this year.

2. Edith Chelimo Crushing her own Record at the Marseille-Cassis Half Marathon

A few hours before Ms Cheruiyot won the Frankfurt Marathon, Ms Edith Chelimo, the 7th-fastest woman in history for the half marathon made history after she won the Marseille-Cassis clocking 1 hour 5 mins and 56 seconds.

3. Malkia Strikers qualifying for World Championships

The Malkia Strikers of Kenya on Friday October 13th, qualified for the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championships.

The Kenyan volleyball heroines qualified after by beating rivals Egypt 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-19) in the semi-finals of the women’s Volleyball Africa Nations Championship at the Palais des Sports Indoor Arena in Yaounde, Cameroon.

4. Kabras Rugby Team Winning the Local 7s Circuit

Kabras Sugar rugby 7s team on October 15th created a moment after they lifted that national seven circuit championship.

Kabras beat off fierce rivals Impala and Homeboyz to lift the prestigious title.

During the series, the sugar millers won two successive legs during the Sepetuka and Christie sevens.

5. Gor Mahia Football Club winning a Record 16th League Title

October 21st was a historic day in the local football league after Gor Mahia football club alias The Green Army crushed Ulinzi Stars to win a record 16th Premier League title.

Gor achieved the fate after attaining 66 points from 30 matches with four games still to play before the season comes to an end.

The country will only make more history in the world if we believe in our own and appreciate our local talents.
