Jubilee Party Nominated Member of Parliament (MP) Maina Kamanda was on Tuesday forced to flee after bees attacked mourners at a funeral in Laikipia County.
The funeral procession had hardly entered the home of the deceased when the swarm of bees attacked forcing them to flee and abandon the coffin along the way.
"Before we knew what was happening people started screaming and running in different directions.
"As the insects started stinging people, we had no option but to leave the body midway and run for our lives," a mourner narrated to the Nation.

Eyewitnesses recounted the incident with horror as they conveyed how they, together with the former Starehe MP, were forced to seek cover and wait for the swarm to disappear.
"I have never seen such a huge swarm of bees in my entire life. I also never knew that they can be that hostile.
"Some people were injured after they were stung by the bees while others got injured after falling down when running," another mourner recounted.
More than 10 people were attended to by healthcare professionals at the Karandi Health Centre after exhibiting swollen faces, arms and legs in reaction to the bee stings.
Three people, including a mother and her infant were admitted at the facility with severe reactions to the bee stings.
The funeral resumed after two hours and was presided over by Fr John Muthaka of the Theria Catholic Church.
The deceased, 79-year-old Mzee Joshua Njuguna, was finally laid to rest with most mourners preferring to stay away from the gravesite fearing a second attack by the bees.
