Shebesh Reveals Unknown Details on Her Husband's Gun Drama

Former Nairobi Woman Representative Rachel Shebesh on Wednesday revealed unknown details regarding the gun drama that left her husband Franklin Shebesh Ambundo shot in the leg.

Speaking to the media outside Nairobi hospital, the former legislator stated that her husband was in their bedroom doing a routine cleaning on his gun when a bullet was accidentally discharged.

“We were all in the house, he was in the bedroom alone servicing his gun. We just heard a loud bang and when we went, we found out that he had injured his thigh,” Shebesh was quoted by the Nation.

She further explained that Mr Ambundo was a gun expert adding that the incident was just an accident and Kenyans should stop speculating.

“He runs a shooting range where he trains people and so he is not a stranger to guns. This was an accident, a genuine mistake and it had nothing to do with politics or the tensions in the country,” Shebesh stated.

Mr Ambundo was on Wednesday admitted at the Nairobi Hospital after he allegedly shot himself in the foot using a Glock 17 pistol at their Kilimani home in Nairobi.

Doctors managed to remove a bullet that was lodged in the victim's foot even as the investigations continue.

Police announced that they had commenced investigations into the gun incident.

"Officers from the Kilimani Police Station rushed to the hospital as is the norm, and established that the patient was a civilian gun holder and that he had discharged one round of ammunition injuring himself," a police report read in part.

The police further noted that even though the incident was being treated as an accident, those who were present in the house should record statements to corroborate the story before the case is dismissed.

Following the shooting,  Mr Ambundo's pistol was confiscated by the police who found that it still had 12 rounds of live ammunition.
