Raila Asks For Interim Government to Rule Kenya [VIDEO]

National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga has proposed that an interim government composed of leaders from both sides of the political divide be put in place for six months to allow for national dialogue.

He wants the interim government to be established to allow for a free and fair election to be organized.

Odinga stated: "We think that what we are calling for requires an even longer time, in the meantime, we need to have an interim arrangement of governance, which will involve representatives from both parties.

"We think maybe six months would be required to carry out all these changes that we need in this country in order to have a free and fair election," he added.

He maintained that President Uhuru Kenyatta does not have the confidence of the people, and swearing him in would only deepen the divisions in the country.

"He does not have the confidence of the people, in this repeat poll he got less than 30%...he would be a President for some parts of the country," Odinga declared.

He spoke as NASA announced the drafting of a motion to establish the People's Assembly that is set to be forwarded to various county assemblies.

The motion will be debated in NASA-leaning counties and could be adopted.

Among the People's Assembly's objectives is the formation of a truly independent electoral commission, with a view to holding a fresh election by February 9, 2018.

"What I want to assure them is we will not surrender..our movement will continue until we achieve what we want," Odinga concluded.
