5 Events All Kenyans Should Watch Out For This Month

As we come to the end of the year, the sports calendar in Kenya is fully packed with events that will take your breath away.

Every Kenyan should mark their calendars and purpose to attend any of these events or follow them on TV as part of showing their support to the Kenyan teams involved.

Some of the events scheduled for November include:

1.  Dubai HSBC Rugby 7s Circuit

The Dubai Rugby Sevens is one of the biggest sporting events that happen every year.

This year’s tournament will take place from November 30 to December 2nd at the Sevens Stadium.

It is the first event in the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series and the HSBC World Rugby Women's Sevens Series.

It boasts of over 100,00 fans and 4,500 players drawn from all over the world.

The Kenya 7s rugby team and the Kenya Lionesses will be part of the participating teams.

You can show your support for the team by following the game on TV or if capable, fly to Dubai and catch the matches live.

2. Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup

After missing out on the African Championship tournament (CHAN), Kenya got the opportunity to host the Cecafa Senior Challenge cup later this month.

The tournament brings together 16 teams from the East African region where local based players compete for the prestigious trophy.

The tournament is very important as it helps in nurturing local talent and giving exposure to players.

The Kenyan team will be participating in the event and you can visit the stadiums later this month to support our team.

3. Standard Chartered Marathon

Most of Kenyan successful marathoners always originate from the Standard Chartered Marathon and other marathons held annually in the country.

This year the Standard Chartered marathon will be held on the 26th of November 2017.

The marathon has a number of categories featuring; the 42KM race, 21 Km race, 10km race and the 5km fun race.

4. Kenya Airways East African Safari Classic Rally

Back in the 90s, motor racing was one of the fancied sports in the country.

Kenyans would always turn up in large numbers to cheer on their favorite rally drivers as they contested in different races.

We can reclaim our lost glory by coming out in large numbers and cheering on our drivers as they participate in the Kenya Airways East African Safari Classic rally scheduled for November 23 and December 1.

Carl ‘Flash’ Tundo, Baldev Singh Chager and Ian Duncan are some of the Kenyans participating in the rally.

The event will cut across Kenya and Tanzania.

5. Floodies

The Impala Floodlit tournament kicked off on Saturday and will run through to the 18th of November 2017.

The event has the varsity category and the club category.

If you love rugby this is the place to be.

The five events are all important as they help in nurturing the local talent and giving our players exposure just as SportPesa envisages under its #Tujiamini initiative.

For our sporting events to grow, we all have a role to play by either going out to cheer on our players or by investing in sporting activities.

Lets come together and make our sports industry better.

Tujiamini!
