Why Catholic Bishops Have Angered NASA Leaders

National Super Alliance (NASA) Co-Principal Musalia Mudavadi on Saturday expressed the coalition's disappointment with Catholic Bishops over their call for dialogue after the election.

Speaking in Vihiga County during a funeral, the Amani National Congress leader noted that when they were calling for dialogue the church was silent.

He further queried why they only raised the issue after the repeat election was conducted.

"The Catholic Church is now calling for dialogue. But where have they been all this time?

"We welcome their gesture but they buried their heads in the sand all this time," The Nation quoted Mudavadi.

Mudavadi made the remarks following an announcement by Catholic Bishops on Thursday urging all political leaders to engage in dialogue to end the stalemate arising from the October 26 presidential election.

In a statement read by Bishop Philip Anyolo, the church heads explained that they had resolved to organize a national dialogue forum to end the political crisis in the country.

"This is aimed at bringing all Kenyans together to look at the true picture of the country and set the agenda for true discussion and resolutions," Anyolo stated.

They offered to create a dialogue forum for conversations on electoral reforms, national healing, and reconciliation.

"We shall offer an opportunity to all Kenyans, religious leaders, civil society groups, political groups for a constructive talk on the way forward for the country.

"We will re-look certain areas of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 that still remain problematic," the Bishop was quoted by the Star.
