Everything You Need To Know About Flights Being Diverted From JKIA

Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) on Friday dismissed reports alleging that all International flights would be diverted from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

Reports were insinuating that international flights would get diverted from JKIA to other airports in Eldoret, Kisumu and Mombasa.

A fake statement which appeared to be authentic from the authority circulated around social networks prompting KAA to respond.

However, the Authority assured passengers that operations at JKIA were scheduled to go on as normal.

“Jambo, operations at JKIA are running normally. Kindly disregard the communication currently circulating on social media stating the contrary,” KAA statement read.

This response comes after Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet barred opposition supporters from accessing the airport citing security concerns.

IG Boinnet warned that the supporters would not be allowed at the airport unless they complied with the Public Order Act (2016).

“Jomo Kenyatta International Airport is a protected area, hence access is open to travelers and all others with legitimate business at the airport who must be subjected at all times to the standard security procedures,” a statement sent by NPS spokesman George Kinoti stated.

National Super Alliance (NASA) supporters clashed with the police after their plan to receive leader Raila Odinga was thwarted.

Mr Odinga, who had been on a trip to the US and Europe, returned to what NASA stated would be a grand reception complete with a party and preceded by a rally at Kamukunji grounds.
