NASA Announces New Location For Friday Rally

The National Super Alliance (NASA) has been forced to change plans after police failed to grant them access to Uhuru Park for a scheduled rally.

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Communications Director Philip Etale announced that the rally will now be held at Kangemi Stadium at 5 pm.

Thousands of NASA supporters had gathered to welcome Opposition chief  Raila Odinga who had been on a 10-day trip abroad.

Despite heavy police presence, Odinga's convoy managed to make its way to the city center.

Police then engaged NASA supporters in running battles leaving several of them injured.

The situation turned ugly on Landhies Road where at least four people were shot.

Water cannons and tear gas were used to disperse the supporters though they still managed to access the CBD.

Police sealed off the Park where NASA had planned to hold their rally noting that they had not approved the gathering.

Speaking at Haile Selassie Avenue, NASA leaders hailed their supporters for turning up in their numbers to welcome Odinga.

Mr Odinga stated: "The police presence is a sign of a government that is collapsing."
