DP William Ruto Reacts to Raila’s Homecoming

Deputy President William Ruto has reacted to National Super Alliance (NASA) Leader Raila Odinga’s homecoming.

In a post on his Twitter account, DP Ruto stated that Odinga's return was characterized by chaos and violence.

He went ahead to refer to the NASA leader as a barbaric, undemocratic and primitive.

Ruto wrote, “the lord of poverty & master of violence came with his signature chaos, destruction, bloodshed and death. Barbaric, undemocratic and primitive.”

On Friday, Mr Odinga jetted back in the country at around 11:00 am and was accompanied by his supporters from the airport when the police blocked them from accessing the CBD leading to chaos.

Three people were shot as police officers battled NASA supporters.

A police lorry was also burnt as the supporters objected to the officers' refusal to grant them access to the city center.

Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet also confirmed that five people were killed by stoning during the NASA procession.

Boinett, however, stated that the police did not use live bullets when confronting protestors.
