Senator Kipchumba Murkomen Advises Raila What to Do Before Uhuru is Sworn In

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen on Monday advised National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga on what to do before President Uhuru Kenyatta is sworn in on Tuesday, November 28th.

The Senate majority leader told the opposition leader to present the coalition's irreducible minimums in parliament for debate after the Supreme Court upheld Kenyatta's win in the repeat presidential election.

"NASA can now present their irreducible minimums to constitutionally recognized institutions such as parliament for us to fully realize the benefits of the irreducible minimums," he explained.

Mr Murkomen added that people in Mr Odinga's circles were deceiving him for their own hidden motives.

“I also believe that Raila Odinga in the absence of the radicals around him is a well-meaning Kenyan. I think he was misled by individuals who lied to him that they were going to deliver no elections on October 26.

“Now that he has come to the realization of the fact that that was a lie, he must quickly run away from the misadvise he has been receiving from radical individuals who have nothing to lose. People who are living in high offices, those who are living in the suburbs of Nairobi and they do not understand what people are going through in Kondele, Mathare, Kibera, Mukuru,” he conveyed.

Murkomen disclosed that he was in support of the president and the opposition leader holding a dialogue on issues affecting the nation.

“If he wants to sit down with resident Uhuru Kenyatta, I will say why not? Now it will be about sitting together to discuss matters of moving the country forward but not about elections.

“The former Prime Minister must go back to a State man’s position and be part of the solution in terms of moving our country forward and we will listen to every suggestion he has because we are the institutions in Government that are going to do that," the Senator maintained.

After the Supreme Court nullified the August 8 presidential elections, NASA set up 12 demands which they dubbed as the irreducible minimums to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) before it could participate in the repeat presidential election.

IEBC responded by actualizing some of the opposition demands, however, Raila still withdrew from the election.

On the other hand, Jubilee hurriedly passed amendments to the elections which were publicly opposed by the NASA coalition.
