FORD-Kenya and Wiper party each have 2 applicants while the Kenya African National Union (KANU) and the Democratic Party (DP) each have an applicant seeking to vie.

The former Kibwezi MP joined the Jubilee party early this year when he contested for the Mavoko parliamentary seat and lost to Wiper party's Patrick Makau.

The nomination process will still have seven independent candidates contesting for the coveted regional representative positions.

NASA leader Raila Odinga's brother Oburu Odinga and Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka's son Kennedy Musyoka have also picked the application forms after a controversial nomination where the Opposition leaders were accused of nepotism.

Current members of the regional assembly - Mumbi Ngaru, Joseph Kiangoi, Abdi Ogle, Nancy Abisai and Saoli ole Nkanae - have expressed interest in extending their terms as their counterparts, Ms Elsie Muhanda and Mr Musyimi Nzengu have already picked their forms.

Lawmakers who make it to the regional parliament will enjoy a number of benefits including a gross salary of Sh1.4 Million.
