Police Now Told to Arrest NASA Leaders

A lobby group from the Mount Kenya has asked the police to arrest Opposition leaders who plan to swear in National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga.

The Mount Kenya Youth Caucus stated that any person found engaging in such an activity should be dealt with in accordance with the law.

According to the Caucus Chairman, Linford Mutembei, President Uhuru Kenyatta is the legitimately elected Head of State and any plan to inaugurate another person is illegal and should not be tolerated.

"Only President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto should be sworn in, having been elected on October 26. Any other planned swearing-in is illegal and should not be allowed to take place.

“Those who intend to undertake such an activity should be put behind bars and dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the law," The Youth caucus chair was quoted by the Nation.

The Chairman further noted that the leaders pushing for the inauguration of the former Former Prime Minister are the same leaders who misadvised him to withdraw from the repeat poll.

“Even NASA leaders know that their move is inconsequential. They are just seeking some relevance and to hide their mistakes of misleading Odinga to boycott the election thinking things would go their way," Mutembei stated.

The group made the remarks following threats by a section of Opposition leaders that as President Kenyatta is being inaugurated, they will also conduct a parallel ceremony.

Siaya Senator James Orengo, Homa Bay County Woman Rep Gladys Wanga, and ex-Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama have been on record stating that they will not recognize President Kenyatta adding that if he is sworn into office, they will also inaugurate the former Prime Minister.

"We will shock them. They will know that you can have power and the guns, but you cannot rule over a people that have refused to obey your leadership

"We will use August 8 results to swear NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga if Uhuru Kenyatta tries to use October 26 poll results to be sworn in,” Orengo stated while addressing NASA supporters at Mavoko.
