Sh17.6 Million Recovered in KCB Bank Robbery

Three suspected bank robbers were on Saturday arrested over the Sh50 Million heist at the Kenya Commercial Bank branch in Thika.

Reports state that the suspects were arrested in Marurui area within Kiambu County and led police to a house in Juja where the Sh17.6 Million was recovered, according to the police.

The bulk of the money was in local currency while the rest was in US dollars, pounds and other currencies from regional countries.

According to Capital FM, a senior officer who briefed on the progress of the investigation stated that the suspects were arrested following various leads, especially from social media.

“The money recovered has since been transferred to KCB headquarters in Nairobi for safe custody,” the senior officer stated.

Additionally, the officer revealed that the suspects would be arraigned in court on Monday as the search for three more who had fled intensified.

Furthermore, witnesses revealed that police seized the cash following a Saturday morning raid on a house in Juja town, where a woman had moved in last Wednesday.

"Police broke into the house on Saturday and found a lot of money, which they counted for three hours," the landlord of the apartment stated.

They did not, however, arrest anyone as there was no one in the house. They just left with the money,” he added.
