University of Nairobi Cancels Jubilee Senator Mithika Linturi's Degree Certificate

The University of Nairobi has revoked the degree of Meru Senator Mithika Linturi.

It is suspected that the Senator presented fake papers to join the University.

Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale hailed the institution for sniffing out Mr Linturi and asked the necessary authorities to crack the whip on more leaders.

"Congratulations to the University of Nairobi! And just about time you cast the net wider," stated Khalwale.

On Wednesday, Meru residents asked Party of National Unity (PNU) politician Mugambi Imanyara to withdraw his petition challenging the election of Senator Linturi.

They stated that Mr Imanyara had an ill-motive and asked him to follow the example of former Governor Peter Munya.

Munya last week filed an application to withdraw his petition against the election of Governor Kiraitu Murungi.

Earlier this month, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) confirmed that a politician affiliated to the National Super Alliance (NASA) had forged a degree certificate to obtain employment as Chief Officer in Kitui County Government before he was elected.

Kitui Member of County Assembly, Nelson Kivali Musyoka, was later arrested and arraigned in court to answer to the allegations.

He denied seven counts he was charged with and was released on bond by the anti-corruption court in Kitui.
