Raila's Inauguration Plan Receives Support From Abroad

The Opposition's plan to swear-in National Super Alliance (NASA) Leader Raila Odinga on December 12th  received a major boost on Sunday after being endorsed by the coalition's supporters in the United Kingdom (UK).

The supporters of NASA in the UK through their chairman Kivindyo Ndivo stated that the ‘swearing-in’ of Mr Odinga and his deputy Kalonzo Musyoka through the People’s Assembly was constitutional and legal.

“This position is informed by the fact that we in the diaspora and many other Kenyans do not to recognise the legitimacy of Uhuru Kenyatta and his government despite being coroneted into office on November 28.

“We also support the setting up of People’s Assembly as a way of engaging ordinary citizens in entrenching the democratic principles and values within the different arms of government for a truly people’s republic," Kindivyo was quoted by Standard.

The NASA supporters hit out at the police for "ethnic killing" adding that restraint should be observed when dealing with unarmed protesters.

“We would like to put Kenyatta’s government on notice that these police killings of unarmed Kenyans amount to crimes against humanity according to the Rome Statute and we will be pursuing the perpetrators of such heinous crimes through the right channels,” he stated.

Addressing President Kenyatta, the NASA UK branch Chairman stated that they will only recognise the Head of State's legitimacy if he engages in dialogue to reform the electoral process and guarantee a free, fair and credible poll.

“As Kenyans, we have the right not to recognise an illegitimate government and their inert right to self-determination as envisaged within article one of the Constitution under the premise of people’s social contract," he explained.

The announcement from the NASA supporters in the UK came after their leader announced that he would inaugurate himself to be the next President of Kenya on December 12th 2017.

Addressing supporters at Manyanja road on Tuesday, the Opposition Leader stated that he will be sworn in by the People's Assembly using the first chapter of the constitution on peoples sovereignty.

"The ceremony will take place on December 12 and every detail of the whole process will be communicated" the NASA leader noted.
