Fire Breaks Out at KDF Headquarters [PHOTO]

A huge fire broke out at the Department of Defence (DoD) headquarters in Hurlingham, Nairobi on Monday.

Details of the incident remain unclear though property of unknown value has been destroyed.

According to initial reports, a military store was gutted down by the fire that broke out at 5.30am.

Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) spokesman Colonel David Obonyo confirmed the incident, saying no one was injured during the dawn fire.

Fire engines arrived in good time and the fire was put out.

In 2016, four people died and three others were injured after a perimeter wall at DoD collapsed on them following the heavy rains.

The incident which happened in the afternoon was confirmed by the Kenya Red Cross Society, who warned Kenyans to exercise caution amid the heavy rains.

The victims are said to have been sheltering near the wall when the unfortunate incident happened.

The premise has 5 major components the Commander, his deputy and three principal branches; Operations, Plans, Training and Doctrine Branch, Directorate of Logistics and Personnel Branch.

It major performs the role of overall command, direction, control and general supervision of the largest service of the KDF.

It is also the component that is charged with the role of formulating and overseeing the implementation of the policies that govern the Kenya Army.
